Here’s what’s happening currently:

Loving: My president. This feature article about Good Day Howard. Catching up with my bestie and her baby. Huge fall leaves all over the sidewalks. Cold weather cocktails like these and this. Getting better at standing up for myself. The storm brewing outside my window right now.

Reading: Anna Karenina. The trailers for the new movie coming out next month look so beautiful, I can’t wait to watch. But I’m the type who wants to read the original book first. Also, I’ll be proud to finish this one. I’ve never been able to get through the classic Russian authors. I lasted three boring chapters of Crime and Punishment, and got about halfway through The Brothers Karamazov before I gave up trying to keep track of all the characters. Right now I’m 150 pages (of 900!) into Anna Karenina, and still interested. Hurray!

Listening To: The Standards/Vocal Jazz station on Pandora, trying to learn the words to all the songs, and loving all the trumpets, guitars, and piano from Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Les Paul. This is my substitute station while I wait for Christmas music time to start. My favorite Christmas songs are from the 40s-60s so a lot of my favorite artists are on this Pandora station.

Watching: I allowed myself to start a new TV series on Netflix. Freaks + Geeks is only 18 episodes long and everyone in it is so cute! I already watched four episodes yesterday.

Planning: Another trip to Arizona next week. It’s already time for my grandma to leave her skilled nursing facility (yay!) so my mom and I will be visiting again to help get her settled into her next living situation. Since it looks like we’ll be home for Thanksgiving after all, I’m also planning dinner! I hope I can do it half as well as last year. That was a miracle!

Thinking About: What I said the other day about moving. From what I’ve seen in my search so far, I can’t really afford anything better than what I already have. It’s making me think I should just try harder to appreciate my current apartment. I designed a new way of arranging everything that I haven’t tried yet, so I’m thinking about switching everything up again. In my new scheme, my bed would go back into the bedroom, and I’d get to find a new (vintage) couch, armchair, and dresser. I keep going back and forth on what to do, though. I’m driving myself crazy!
