Tuesday Shoesday

When I feel like I’ve seen it all and nothing is inspiring, it’s time to take myself vintage shopping. Oddly, when it seems like nothing is new, it feels best to me to go back to the reeeeeally old. Way back when, you’ll find refreshing uniqueness.

Now, most of the shoes above are from the 80s and 90s, a time period I still have trouble calling “vintage.” The buckled ones are from Brass Plum for Pete’s sake! I probably coveted this exact pair when I was in 6th grade! (Okay, now I’m sounding curmudgeonly…stopping here.)

Really, I love these vintage fall shoes. They fit in with the modern trends with their pointed toes, chunky heels, and color blocking, but play by their own rules of times past.

one // Woven leather boots size 7.5 from Factory Handbook

two // Black suede 1940s heels size 5.5 from Ginger Root Vintage

three // Laceless oxford flats size 7 or 8 from Found Shop

four // Patchwork suede flats size 9 from Mindlessly Adrift

five // Buckled leather wood heel clog size 7.5 from It’s Bella

Tuesday Shoesday: Shoe Wall

August 28, 2012

I’m not sure if it’s just because we’re transitioning from summer to fall or if it’s because I actually finally have enough shoes (no, no, that can’t be it), but I just can’t get excited about shoe shopping right now. Except for the fabulous fall shoes I’ve posted in the last few weeks of Tuesday Shoesday, of course.

So I thought today would be a good day to finally give some detailed attention to the shoe wall – my collection of shoes that I love so much I moved my bed into the living room and gave them a fourth of my studio/office/closet space.

Here goes!

GAP sandals via Bows + Arrows // Seen here, here, and here because I love them so.

H+M heels // Seen here and here and most recently here.

H+M coral heels // I wore these to Katie Ann’s wedding last year and felt so ladylike.

Madewell platform heels // My most recent fave. Worn here and here and many more times in the future. Stay tuned.

H+M booties // These somehow have not yet been photographed! This will have to be fixed this winter.

We Who See from Urban Outfitters // The ones I hunted down after spying them on a passing stranger on the street, last seen here.

Restricted peep toe wedges // See them in action here.

Vintage pink heels // A pair of jeans I just remembered I had and these shoes can be seen here.

Vintage oxfords // These just scream fall to me. Hence, see them here from last fall.

Seychelles Two Birds heels // Did I say those Madewells were my fave? They’re gonna have to share the title with these. See their debut here.

Urban Outfitters heels (similar here) // These were my everyday shoes when I lived in San Francisco. Before the blog. So you can only kind of peep them here.

Vintage Candie’s // Just thrifted and already photographed here!

Jeffrey Campbell Lita bootie // Pined after here // discussed here // and shot on Bows and Sparrows here.

Modcloth kitten heels // My shortest heels! Last seen here.

Target booties // These were my staple shoe last winter and they’re fixin’ to be mighty important again this season. Seen here, here, and here…and here!

Well, now you’ve seen all my shoes. I’m going to have to buy some more so to have more to talk about in the future. I’m sure by next week I’ll be lusting for lots of new shoes!

Tuesday Shoesday: The Boot

August 21, 2012

I’ve been dreaming about these boots ever since Megan posted a sneak peek of them on instagram. Lace-up boots keep ‘coming back’ into style. I use ‘quotes’ because they have been in style for years according to my count. Designer Samantha Pleet teamed with work boot wonders Wolverine to create the perfect version. Wood stacked heel, cognac leather, skinny laces, and a sweetly tough buckle across the ankle. Love!

Ponyhair, haircalf, hair-on-hide…this fall’s leather shoes are furry. The Know Your Tuft Flat from Modcloth embodies all my favorite trends for flats right now. Of course I was drawn to the bronze-brown, the tiny ankle straps, and the cut outs — these details are basically required to win my love. The pointed toes, the polka dots, and the d’orsay shape make them über current. Hello, Fall 2012!

Part of what was so good about Ilana Kohn’s product photos (besides the beautiful designs of course) was the SHOES! Ilana pointed me to No. 6 Store, a New York shop which I now dream of visiting soon. In the meantime, we can lust after their beautiful line of handmade clogs in wedges and heels.

It’s that time of year! The time of summer when all the cute fall goodies are starting to come out, and we get to start imagining what we’ll be wearing when the weather cools down and wishing that the weather would COOL DOWN.

These are my first few loves for fall. All neutral colors, wood stacked heels, wedges and chunkiness, and ankle-height all the way!
